SHEEP - The name SKIPTON derived from the Old English Screap(Sheep) & Turn(Turn) from the trading of sheep and woollen goods in the town market.
SKIPTON CASTLE - Skipton Castle has stood in skipton for over 900 years. During the civil war it was the only Royalist stronghold in the north of England.
CASTLE & YEW TREE - Lady Ann Clifford planted the yew tree to mark the restoration of the castle after the civil war, the yew tree still stands.
OLIVER CROMWELL - After a tree year siege in 1645 a surrender was negotiated between Oliver Cromwell & The Royalists.
